Obituary for Frances Stowe Parrish Jones

On May 9th, 2018, Frances Parrish Jones, of Dry Fork, Va., entered the Gates of Heaven to live forevermore in a mansion surrounded by her loved ones who have gone before.

Born on January 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Essie Davis Stowe. She was also predeceased by her first husband of 43 years, Joseph H. Parrish. In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Rev. Willie B. Jones; her sister, Clarice Parrish; and her brother, Harold Stowe. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Dan River, Inc. for 25 years.

Frances’ love, devotion, and heart filled her soul with a life of commitment to her Lord which never ceased for years to come. On June 1, 1958, Frances joined Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church; her life was dedicated to her church for the rest of her days. She served as Sunday School Teacher for 25 years, and was always so eager to share delicious home-cooked meals with her church family whatever the occasion. When lessons were prepared, she devoted more fellowship time with The Women’s Auxiliary Ministry Board over the years. She also truly enjoyed singing in the church choir.

Frances is survived by her children, Billy Thomas Parrish (Linda) of Danville, Va., Gary Wayne Parrish, Sr. (Betty Jean) of Danville, H. Steve Parrish (Yvonne) of Danville, and Jo Ann Atkinson (Tim Gwynn) of Dry Fork; her grandchildren, Christopher Joseph Parrish, Lisa Gayle Hall, Nicholas Michael Taylor, Gary Wayne Parrish, Jr., Tara Annette Stovall, Jackie Ray Atkinson, Jr., Jennifer Atkinson Younger, Jordan Nicole Previtire, Jamie Whitney House, and Peyton Catherine Parrish; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Frances’ life was also filled with the love of several other family members, including a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to caregivers, Brenda Day, Penny Hubbard, Starlett Hardy and Phyllis “Diane” Wise for their love and care given to our mother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Emmanuel P.H. Church, with Rev. Mike Hearp, Rev. Cecil Coates, Rev. Gerald Kelly, and Rev. Roger Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at Emmanuel P.H. Church, and at other times at her daughter’s home, 7441 Dry Fork Road, Dry Fork, VA 24549.

The family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541 (www.dlsc.org).

Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Tpke., Danville, Va. is respectfully serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.norrisfuneral.com.
