Obituary for Roger Martin Winn

Roger Martin Winn, Sr., 97, of Richmond, VA passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017. He was born July 14, 1920 in Axton, VA to the late George Taylor Winn and Mary Martin Winn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Lasley Winn; son, Foster Lasley Winn; and brother, George T. Winn, Jr.

Mr. Winn was a veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Ruth Winn of Richmond; sons, Roger Martin Winn, Jr. of Axton and George T. Winn, III and his wife, Ellen of Gretna; grandchildren, Ethan R. Winn, Graham T. Winn and his wife, Catherine; great-grandchildren, Lennox Winn and Caleb
Ferguson; and special family friends, Ann Walker and Ivy Dale Austin.

A private burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Axton Volunteer Fire Department.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Axton Volunteer Fire Department, 1522 Centerville Rd., Axton, VA 24054 or to the Ag in the Classroom Program, c/o Henry County Farm Bureau, 156 E Market St #2, Martinsville, VA 24112.
