Obituary for Lola Brumfield Fuller Arnn

Lola Brumfield Fuller Arnn, was born in Pittsylvania County on October 23, 1926. She graduated from Callands High School in 1944 and then attended and graduated from Phillips Business College in Lynchburg, Va.

On November 16, 1946, she married Joseph Hartwell Fuller and lived in Newport News, Va. for 1.5 years. During her stay in Newport News, she worked in the Bookkeeping Department of the Newport News Dry Dock and Shipyard.

After moving to Danville in 1947, a son, Joel Vann Fuller was born February 5, 1948. On September 3, 1950, a daughter, Katherine Sue Fuller was born.

When her youngest was 3.5 years old, she began working for the Memorial Hospital in the Medical Records Department for approximately 2 years and was asked by Dr. Asa W. Viccellio to become his secretary and bookkeeper. She worked for Dr. Viccellio for 23 years as office manager and bookkeeper. After his death and the closing of his office, she was called to work again at the Memorial Hospital x-ray department as manager of the clerk typist for approximately two years. After that, Dan River Clinic called and she worked there for 10.5 years, until her retirement on January 31, 1988.

Her husband, Joseph H. Fuller, died June 5, 1994 of a serious heart condition. After four years, she married John Oliver “Pete” Arnn on August 22, 1998. “Pete” Arnn died of a massive heart attack on May 27, 1999.

Her son Joel is married to Marcia Jacobs Fuller and they have a son, Jackson Noah Fuller, currently living in Wilmington, NC. Her daughter, Katherine “Kitty” is marred to Michael Anderson Payne, and they have a son, Joshua Michael Payne, married to Ashley Webster Payne, all of Danville.

Her retirement years have been very full with the work in North Main Baptist Church as Sunday School teacher for approximately 50 years, WMU Director, choir member and many other avenues of service within the church. Her work with the Danville Christian Women’s Club has also been a great joy and sharing in the work relationship with women of all denominations and with Friendship Bible Studies as a coordinator and a Bible Study leader.

Funeral services for Mrs. Arnn will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at North Main Baptist Church, Danville, Va. with Rev. Jack E. Fitts and Rev. Fred Unger officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday evening, October 1, 2018, also at North Main Baptist Church, Danville, and at other times at her daughter, Kitty Payne, 161 Knottingham Way, Danville, Va.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Main Church Building Fund, 2818 N. Main St, Danville, VA 24540 or the Mt. Hermon Fire & Rescue at 4268 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, Va., 24540.
