Obituary for Jesse Paige Farmer

Jesse Paige Farmer passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Sovah Health Danville. He was preceded in death by parents William H. and Margie Farmer.

Born in Danville, Va. on August 4, 1951, he leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Cynthia Robertson Farmer, and their son, Brandon Paige Farmer (April) of Forest, Va.; brothers, William “Barry” Farmer (Susan) and Mark Farmer (Georgeanna) of Danville; a sister, Adair Somerville (Frank) of Orange, Va. and brother-in-law, Wesley Robertson (Claudette) of Danville; along with six nieces and nephews, a great-nephew and a great-niece.

Paige met Cindy when she was 16 and they became inseparable. He graduated from GW High School and Averett University in Danville, with a Business degree. Having grown up in his father’s cattle business, he chose to join him. He loved toting Brandon around at the cattle sales when he was small, and years later replaced him with his faithful dog, Snapper. Those who knew Paige knew there wasn’t a more hard-working man, a truer friend, nor a more honest one. He was a man to be counted on, whether it was helping someone else out with their cattle or rushing to help a friend change a flat tire in the most miserable of weather. He was a fantastic story-teller as no one else could be, and with Paige, you definitely always knew what he thought, and where you stood with him.

Those who knew him would describe him as a true character, with a unique, often sarcastic, sense of humor that could only be described as Paige Farmer-esque. If you weren’t fortunate enough to have met him and experienced it, well, you missed out. Paige’s memory will certainly live on in the many colorful stories, sure to be told for years to come, at the stockyard markets in Virginia and North Carolina.

A visitation will be held at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Friday, March 8, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. and other times at the residence. A graveside service will take place Saturday, March 9 at 11 am at Highland Burial Park, with Rev. Wayne Aaron officiating.

Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Tpke., Danville, Va. is respectfully serving the Farmer family. Online condolences may be made at www.norrisfuneral.com.
