Life Legacy

Charlie Edward Stegall, 95, of 877 F. C. Beverly Road, Dry Fork, VA passed away at his residence Wednesday, September 4, 2013. He was born August 21, 1918 to the late Clarence and Hattie Stegall. He is survived by his wife of 74 years Mary Stowe Stegall. Mr. Stegall owned and operated Stegall Hauling for 30 years. He was a lifetime member of Whitmell United Methodist Church, where he formerly served as Chairman of the Trustees, Choir Member, and President of the Men’s Club. He also loved to garden and was a member of Woodmen of The World.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Stegall is survived by his children: Marjorie Wimmer and husband Jerome, Joyce Kelly and husband Hugh “Doc”, and Netti Holley; his grandchildren: Jerome Wimmer, Jr. (Crystal), Edward Wimmer (Sandra), Danny Wimmer (Elizabeth), Lura Lawrence (David), Kathy Davis (Jake), and Katie Kiser (Kyle); his great-grandchildren: Romie Wimmer, Emily Wimmer, Elivia Wimmer, Charles Wimmer, Edward Wimmer, Jr. and Lydia Davis; his brother William Stegall; and his sister Irene Oakes.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Roderick Holley, his great-granddaughter Madelyn “Maddie” Davis, his brothers Percy Stegall and Richard Stegall, and his sisters Janie Wyatt and Virginia Turner.

The family would also like to express special thanks to his caregiver Hattie Adkins.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Whitmell UMC with Rev. Susan Hannah officiating. Entombment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 6, 2013 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville and at other times at the residence.
