Obituary for Robert L. Curtis

Robert L. Curtis, 87, of 11445 Franklin Turnpike, Chatham, Va., passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Sovah Health Danville. He was born on July 26, 1930, in Lignum, Va. to the late Helen Shackelford Curtis and the late Carrie Curtis. Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Hodnett Curtis. He worked for 45 years in maintenance for Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. Mr. Curtis was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon.

Mr. Curtis is survived by his daughter, Julie C. Carter and husband, James of Dry Fork, Va.; his half-brother, Jeff Rutledge; his grandchildren, Jason and Robbie Curtis, and Rachael, Rebecca, and Taylor Carter; as well as five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Curtis was predeceased by his son, Phillip Curtis; two sisters; two brothers, one half-sister; and one half-brother.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018, at Norris West End Chapel.

Following the visitation, the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018, at Norris West End Chapel with Rev. Averette Witcher officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
