Obituary for Marjorie Crumpton Long

Marjorie Crumpton Long, 86, of Danville, Va., passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Roman Eagle Rehab & Healthcare Center. She was born September 16, 1930, in Danville, Va. to the late Madie Scearce Crumpton and the late Marvin Crumpton. Mrs. Long was also predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Percy Ray Long.

Margie worked as a teller with Virginia Bank & Trust for much of her professional life. She was active in her children’s school activities and community service, and particularly enjoyed her membership in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She will be remembered by many as a committed homemaker and excellent baker. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Long is survived by her daughter, LuAnne Long and fiancé, Peter Wrenn of Danville; her son, Stephen Long, of Danville; her brother, Gary L. Crumpton of Quinton, Va.; and her much beloved grandson, Nicholas Alan Richardson, of Roanoke, Va.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Long was predeceased by her brothers, Edward E. Crumpton and Danny R. Crumpton.

The family will receive friends at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Sunday, August 13, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Highland Burial Park with Rev. Stephen White officiating.
