Obituary for Louise Rogers Tatum

Louise Rogers Tatum, 92, of Patrick Springs, VA, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, NC. She was born in Montana on January 3, 1925 to the late H. B. Rogers and Anna Woodall Rogers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Douglas Tatum, an infant son, one sister; Pearl R. Wingo, three brothers; Robert Clarence Rogers, Richard Dean Rogers and Clifford Earl Rogers.


She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and was part owner of the former Town and Country Market and Discount Store and was named Business Person of the year in 1979.

She was instrumential in the organization of the Penny House in Patrick Springs, VA. She was a great cook, loved her flower garden, played a mean game of bridge and liked living near her family especially her great-nieces, Christina Johnson and Amanda Holt..

Surviving are two sisters; Carolyn East of Patrick Springs, VA, Claudine Cannaday of Fort Lauderdale, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Keith Vernon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Providence United Methodist Church Building Fund 1021 Providence Drive Patrick Springs, VA 24133.
