Obituary for Lane Hudson

Edwin Lane Hudson, 74, of 210 Laurel Woods Drive, Danville, Va., passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital. He was born November 8, 1942, in Pittsylvania County to the late Alva Adams Hudson and the late Elwood S. Hudson. He is survived by his wife Linda Dallas Hudson, to whom he was married for 50 years. He retired in 1999 as a Captain from the Danville Fire Department with 30 years service.

Lane grew up in Danville, Va. and attended both Hargrave Military Academy and G.W. High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Seabees from July 1960 – Nov 1963. He attended Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Danville Elks Lodge, and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army. He enjoyed traveling, genealogy, was an avid history buff and enjoyed spending time with his family.

As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Lane, in addition to his wife, is survived by his daughter, Sarah Hudson Nowak and husband Michael of Wilmington, NC, sons Christopher Lane Hudson of Raleigh, NC and Russell Todd Hudson of Angier, NC. He is also survived by a sister Nancy Hudson Wilson and husband Edward, brothers Roland Hudson and wife Joan and Bruce Hudson and wife Bobbie. He is also survived by his dearly beloved grandchildren Henry Michael Nowak and Lauren Elizabeth Nowak of Wilmington, NC.

In addition to his parents, Lane was predeceased by brother, Wesley J. Hudson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, and at other times at the residence, 210 Laurel Woods Dr., Danville.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in Lane’s memory to the Mt. Hermon Volunteer Fire, 4268 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, Va. 24540.
