Obituary for Juanita Spicer Saul

Juanita Spicer Saul, 87, of Martinsville, VA passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017. She was born on June 5, 1929 in Alleghany County, NC to the late Walter F. Spicer and Pearl Lenora Brown Spicer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leff V. Royal; second husband, Hender L. Saul; sisters, Beatrice Nichols, Mildred Berry, and Bennie Centobene; and great-grandchildren, Michael Hall, Jr. and Victoria Helbert.

Mrs. Saul was a member of Stanleytown’s Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Perry Business School and retired from J and J Southeast Container after 25 years of service. She was a hospice volunteer for 20 years. Mrs. Saul was also a Gold Star wife of a veteran of the Korean Conflict missing in action.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda R. Craig and husband Bobby of Ridgeway, VA and Connie Saul Thacker and husband Steve of Martinsville, VA; grandchildren, Cindy Craig Hall and husband Mike of Stanleytown, VA, Sherri Craig Helbert and husband Tim of Bassett, VA and Wesley Craig and wife Rebecca of Martinsville, VA; great-grandchildren, Hailey Helbert, Cara Helbert, Briana Neaves, Logan Hall, Nathan Hall, Bethany Craig, and Abigail Craig. Also surviving is her beloved cat, Prissy.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Stanleytown’s Amazing Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Hodges and Assistant Pastor Ken Horsley officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 also at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, Brenda Craig, 105 Wilde St. Ridgeway, VA. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
