Obituary for Jereline Stockton Smith

Jereline Stockton Smith, 81, of Martinsville, VA passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. She was born on August 26, 1936 in Henry County, VA to the late Leonard Stockton, Sr. and Lucinda Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Penn; second husband, Elder Joseph Smith; and brothers, Ernest “Lil Ernest” Stockton, Leonard Stockton, Jr. and Sylvester Stockton.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church and retired from Tultex as a Seamstress.

She is survived by her daughter, Violet Dawson and husband Ricardo of Martinsville, VA; sisters, Marjori Flood of Trenton, NJ, Lula Taylor, Shirley NorFleet, and Antoinatta Stockton all of Martinsville, VA; brothers, Paul Hairston of Greensboro, NC, Tim Stockton, Elroy Stockton, Curtis Stockton, Ivory Stockton, and Elder Percy Stockton all of Martinsville, VA; and two grandchildren, Ricardo Vandarren Dawson and Christopher Allen Dawson.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Percy Stockton officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. The burial will follow at Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
