Obituary for James Ralph Carter

James Ralph Carter, age 74 of Danville went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, May 28, 2018 at Duke University Hospital. He was born November 13, 1943 in Danville, VA to the late Lee Roy Carter and the late Elizabeth Young Carter. James was married to Marion Howell Carter. He was very active in White Oak Worship Center where he was a member. Ralph had worked for the Danville and Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s office and also was the owner of Carter’s Guns & Ammo.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Sharon Jarrett and husband Terry and Amy Burton and husband Lee all of Danville; four grandchildren, Becca Jarrett, Tori Jarrett, Erica Hoskins and Sydney Burton and one great-grandchild, Cora Hoskins.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Carter.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, May 31, 2018 at White Oak Worship Center, 8465 US-29, Blairs, VA 24527 with Pastor Roger Ewing and Billy Hedrick officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA.

The family will receive friends 6:00 pm till 7:30 pm, Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at White Oak Worship Center and other times at the Residence.
