Obituary for Harvey Ray Hylton

Harvey Ray Hylton, age 74 of Martinsville, and formerly of Patrick County, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 9, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on April 13, 1943 in Slab Fork, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Cabel and Callie Rakes Hylton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanna Hylton and a brother, William Howard Hylton. He retired from Allied Systems after 25 years of service.

Mr. Hylton and his brother, Lee, operated a lawnmower repair shop in Collinsville for 20 years after retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Imogene Agee Hylton, a daughter, Debbie Hylton, a son, Marty Hylton, all of the home; two grandsons; two brothers, Lee Hylton of Bassett and G.C. Hylton (Margaret) of Patrick Springs; four sisters, Gaynell Floyd of Stuart, Estelle Rakes of Patrick Springs, Virginia Sheppard of Stuart and Redith Shough (David) of Patrick Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at the church. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses of Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassion and care. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory in Martinsville is in charge of the arrangements.
