Obituary for Glenda Reed Carter

Glenda Reed Carter’s work here was done on May 13, 2017 and she has gone to her great reward. Her next assignment comes with many benefits, most importantly a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new adventure takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, baking, gardening and reading to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. The food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her earthbound family and friends to celebrate her work here, which has now been completed.

Glenda aka “Mena” was born on January 23, 1941 to Paul and Mary Reed who welcomed her with open arms to heaven along with her brother Michael, her late husbands Gerald Bostic and John W. Carter. She is survived by her children, Charisse Hutcherson (John), Shelly Bostic, Lori Heath (Pete), Kenneth Carter, her grandchildren Jacob Shelton(Sheena), Nathan Shelton, Carli Bostic-Bixby, Cayla Bostic-Bixby, Dalton Heath, Lacey Heath, Mattie Carter, Brodie Carter, Kelly Hutcherson and her great-grandchildren Sydni Shelton and Kellan Shelton. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Roberson (Buddy) and her brother Paul "PT" Reed.
She spent her life taking care of others so in lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/give.html or by mail 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

Visitation will be Monday May 15th from 5:30-6:30 at West Main Baptist Church followed by a celebration of her life conducted by Skyler Daniel. We invite friends to join us and enjoy her favorite things desserts and coffee as we remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love of life and the difference she made in the lives of many. The family will also receive friends at the home of Lori and Pete Heath, 109 Ridgeway Drive, Danville, VA
