Obituary for Dolly Mae Hand Deane

Dolly Mae Hand Deane, age 86, of Danville passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at Roanoke Carilion Hospital. She was born August 15, 1931 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Daisy Lou Rodgers Hand and the late Robert Alonza Hand. She was married to James Robert Deane, who predeceased her in 2005. Mrs. Deane was a member of West Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Deane worked for Dan River, Inc. and retired from there after many years of service as a weaver. She also worked for Fieldcrest Mills.

Mrs. Deane is survived by a daughter, Shirley Mae Deane Sands and husband Curtis of Eden, NC, two sons, Keith C. Deane and Michael Lee Deane and wife Marie, both of Danville. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Lou Hand Vernon of Eden, NC and a brother, Jimmy Taylor Hand of Madison, NC. In addition she is survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, William Deane, a sister Edna Lee Hand Walton, and two brothers, Paul Russell Hand and Jesse Forest Hand.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2018 at Schoolfield Cemetery, Danville, Va. with the Rev. Jack Coe and the Rev. Alton Bartee officiating.

The family will receive friends 7:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Norris Funeral Services, Inc., West End Chapel, and at other times at the residence, 10243 Martinsville Hwy, Danville, Va.
