Obituary for Cornelia Josephine Fallen

Cornelia Josephine Fallen, 75, of Danville, Va., passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at her residence. She was born April 8, 1943, in Danville to the late Amanda Josephine Garrett McLaughlin and the late Leroy Swann. Ms. Fallen worked in the Danville Public Schools. She was a member of Bennett Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. Ms. Fallen loved Jesus with her whole heart, and this led to her loving other people, especially children. She lived her life always trying to help others. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Ms. Fallen is survived by her daughter, Caren Glass of Danville; her grandchildren, Christle C. Fallen, Sydney S. Glass, Marqueze Reeves, Courtney Coles, and Josalind Wilkins; as well as three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Fallen was predeceased by her husband, Calvin C. Fallen; her son, Curtis Fidel Fallen; her sister, Virginia Mae Carter; and her brothers, Leroy Ellis Swann and James Earl Swann.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Bennett Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 165 Levelton St., Danville, with Rev. Clarence Hairston, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
