Obituary for Carl Douglas "Doug" Jones

Carl Douglas “Doug” Jones, 88, of Ferrum, VA, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 2, 1929 in Warren, OH to the late Lonie Jones and Hazel Vern Maple Jones. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ora Lee Jones, and Paul Gilbert Jones; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Jones, and Faye Jones.

Mr. Jones was a member of Fair View Church of the Brethren. He received a Master of Divinity and is a retired minister.

He is survived by his wife Mary Sandra Jones; sister, Phyllis Davidson and husband Chester of OH; daughters, Jacquelyn Kay Gilbuena and husband Raymond of CA, Laurie Ann Hurt and husband David of TN, and Patricia Lynn Mosher and husband Brian of FL; and son, Charles Thomas Jones and wife Nancy of OH. Also surviving are twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on October 4, 2017 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Darren Hileman and Minister Jeff Wray officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11:30 on the same day before the service. Burial will follow and be held at Maple Grove Cemetery.
